Known as the Painter of Light, Thomas Kinkade is America's most collected living artist. His life-affirming values and love of the natural world were  instilled during his youth in the small northern California town of Placerville. His work seems to recapture a life of simple and quiet splendor -- affirming those basic family and community values. A devoted husband, Kinkade hides the letter "N" in his paintings to pay tribute to his wife Nanette. His four daughters -- Merritt, Winsor, Chandler, and Everett -- also find their names and images appearing in many of his paintings.
